Healing work is resilience, remembrance, self-sufficiency, and heart centered activism. It is a radical act of reclaiming our inner truth and power, and un-learning the harmful colonial + capitalist conditioning we have been taught. There is no more room in our lives to allow for others to make us feel small, silenced, unsafe, and subordinate.

We can not deny that this lived experience is different for each person. As a society we have collective programming and harmful systems in place that benefit the few and privileged, and continue to strain marginalized communities as they have for centuries.

In my efforts to combat racial, economic, and social injustice, and to maintain a level of sacred reciprocity and personal accountability, I make the below offerings to the communities most affected by the systemic oppression that is present in our world.

I am always open to learning and expanding my offerings and am open to feedback. As a first generation American, daughter of a single mother, immigrant, and Indigenous Latinx woman, I acknowledge that I have largely benefited from the experience of being white passing in the US. Simultaneously I have witnessed the violence towards my indigenous ancestors, and towards members of the Black, Brown, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, Jewish, houseless, differently abled, and immigrant communities.

I am here to say I see you, I hear you, I am here for you. We will get through this through mutual community care.

With Love,

Koa Mikaelah

Group Workshops

Two spots are always reserved per class free of charge for the Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and Immigrant community. This is a non-negotiable for me and is part of all of my studio contracts.

1:1 Sessions

One private session per month for a member of the Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and Immigrant community free of charge. This is operating on a first come first serve basis until I can find a more sustainable way to manage this offering. No you don’t need to apply or “prove you qualify” the only qualification is committing to show up for your appointment. We take personal nominations because self care is sacred work

Healing Materials

We offer an unlimited amount of free downloadable healing materials in the form of zines, pre-recorded classes, and more, year round, all we ask is that you credit us if you share. Send us an email to receive.

Financial Flexibility

If you see a private session you want to experience but price is a barrier please email me and we will work out a sliding scale rate or payment plan for you. We also love to participate in trade culture! Please email us with offerings you feel are of equal exchange.

Pay it Forward

The Pay it Forward program is a community care space where we honor reparations for the BIPOC community. This is a space to offer those in positions of privilege and abundance the opportunity to pay it forward to a member of the community who does not benefit from the same privileges. We take donations year round from those that want to pay it forward and then match 100% of the donations to provide the below:

  • Free private healing sessions for the Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and chronically ill, houseless, and immigrant community

  • Free admission into workshops for the Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and chronically ill, houseless, and immigrant community (this covers entrance and any supplies)

  • Free healing materials for the Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and chronically ill, houseless, and immigrant community

  • Covers labor, materials, and time costs for myself to create pre-recorded videos and lesson plans to offer to students of the Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and chronically ill, houseless, and immigrant community

Root Work

We take cultural appropriation seriously and work actively to be transparent about which ancestral medicines we share, the communities they originated from, and the elders that have passed down the teachings to us. Below are a few ways we are keeping these medicines sacred:

  • Acknowledging the land we occupy as stolen Lenni Lenapehoking territory. Naming the land and first people of this land, regularly making land offerings of prayer, herbs, song, and monthly donations to the LNPA.

  • Naming all lineages, elders, teachers, and cultures associated with teachings not just on our website but vocally within ceremonies.

  • Working with the permission and blessings of our elders to practice this work.

  • We only work with plant, mineral, and benevolent spirits that we have received explicit permission from to utilize for healing purposes. We also employ the above practice of naming the origin land of these plants as well as any important information such as traditional use, endangerment, sustainability efforts, etc.

  • If we don’t know enough, or are unsure, we do not offer it as a teaching, period.

  • Constantly educating ourselves, humbling ourselves, and creating space to learn and adapt.

  • Our teachings do not give you permission to take, use, or teach them. This is an example of colonialism. Unless you have explicit written permission from us you may not share these practices with others as your own, for monetary gain, etc. We offer them as a form of healing and self-care only.
