Buen Camino

Slow + Steady Medicine

Koa Mikaelah (she/her) is a third generation Latinx Medicine Woman of Indigenous Arawak Venezuelan and Taino Cuban ancestry currently living on unceded Wixárika land. Her teachings come from elders in the lineage of Espiritismo, Curanderismo, Shamanism and Breathwork. She focuses her offerings on what she calls “back to the land spirit medicine” and believes that the soil-spirit connection can always guide us back to center and truth. Koa believes self healing is an act of decolonial, intergenerational, radical activism that can help to heal our bloodlines across generations.

Buen Camino

What’s behind the name?

In Spanish we have a saying for those moments in life where you make a brief but meaningful connection with a stranger during travel. Often we cross paths with someone and enjoy our time together, yet know that we may never see them in this lifetime again, because well, life is fleeting and the curves it takes often unpredictable. When it comes time to part we wish them a Buen Camino, or a Good Path, blessing their path ahead.

BUEN CAMINO

Offerings that bridge soil and stars

Healing for All. I stand behind accessible healing for all beings. To combat institutional racial, social, + economic injustice I offer a variety of scholarship options for the BIPOC, immigrant, chronically ill, houseless, and LGBTQ+ communities. If you are within these communities and wish to apply for a low cost and/or free healing session please visit our reciprocity page to learn more. If you do not fall into these communities or are in a position of abundance and wish to know how you can assist with supporting these efforts please also visit our reciprocity page. Thank you for allowing these offerings to be sustainable and participating in collective community care. When one heals we all heal.

SHamanism + Plant spirit medicine

Offerings that connect you to the earth (body), form trusting relationships with your guides (spirit), help you release old narratives and make space for new opportunities (emotions), and step into your empowered wholeness (mind).

Breathwork

The breath is the most accessible healing tool we have. It can bring our spirit back into our body, help us release traumas, provide intergenerational healing, and regulate our nervous systems.

retreat + event curation

Throughout the past six years we have curated custom retreats and event experiences ranging from an intimate dinner + shamanic healing ceremony to week long spiritual retreats, to music festival activations. View our event portfolio here.

Mentorship

For those looking for longer term, deeper, 1:1 private work, mentorship offerings are available on a seasonal basis. Each mentorship is custom tailored to the individual’s journey. Learn more about the mentorship program here.

BUEN CAMINO

For the next seven generations

Birthed into a long lineage of Arawak medicine womxn from South America + the Caribbean, and being raised in a spiritist community, the healing arts has been a walk of life for Koa since the day she was born. This work is not learned, it is remembered. It is not written, it is passed down orally through the generations of medicine holders in her lineage. This work is rooted in indigenous resistance, resilience, and sacred ancestral medicine.

Gratitude to my elders, mentors, teachers, and guides across all forms.

It took attending only one breath work session with Koa Mikaelah to know I had just experienced something transformative — stirring breath, clearing blockages and negative patterns, paving the way for what best serves our truest selves. Grounded by a beautiful sense of ceremony, I left both aware and appreciative of both my newfound inner wisdom and the effect of breath on body, mind and spirit.
